What is NEET?
NEET stands for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. It is a national level entrance exam in India for admission to undergraduate medical (MBBS) and dental (BDS) courses in government or private medical colleges across the country.

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Age Limit: The minimum age limit is 17 years at the time of admission or will be on or before December 31 of the year of admission. There is no upper age limit for appearing in NEET.
2. Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed their 10+2 examination or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects.
3. Minimum Marks: General category candidates must have scored at least 50% marks in PCB subjects, while SC/ST/OBC candidates must have scored at least 40% marks.

Exam Pattern:

1. Mode: NEET is conducted in pen and paper mode (offline mode).
2. Subjects: The exam comprises three sections – Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology).
3. Number of Questions: There are 180 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with 45 questions from each subject.
4. Marking Scheme: Each correct answer earns +4 marks, while each incorrect answer results in a deduction of -1 mark.

Important Dates:
NEET is usually held once a year. The exam dates and other important dates like registration start and end date, admit card release date, result declaration, etc., are announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA) or the respective authority.

Preparation Tips:

1. Understand the Syllabus: Have a clear understanding of the NEET syllabus and focus on important topics.
2. Create a Study Schedule: Plan your study schedule wisely, allocating sufficient time to each subject.
3. Practice Previous Years’ Papers: Solve previous years’ question papers and sample papers to understand the exam pattern and improve time management.
4. Revision: Regular revision of concepts and formulas is crucial.
5. Stay Healthy: Maintain a healthy lifestyle with proper diet and sleep to stay focused and productive.

Scoring:
NEET scores are calculated based on the marks obtained by candidates in the exam. The total marks in NEET are 720 (180 questions x 4 marks). Candidates are ranked based on their NEET scores, and admission to medical colleges is done through centralized counseling conducted by respective authorities.
